2nd Street Festival: Bigger Than The Broverflow

  • 700 North 2nd Street Philadelphia, PA, 19123 United States (map)

In under a decade, the 2nd Street Festival has gone from just a few bar owners thinking it might be fun to do a block party to one of the city’s biggest street festivals. That run has also coincided with NoLibs morphing into “BroLibs” (see also: Fishtown, “the Broverflow,” et. al), but in the 2nd Street Festival, you can still sense some of the wily flavor of the neighborhood back before the speculators arrived. There’s bands (Lord, there’s a lot of bands, spread out over three stages), there’s over 30 food options between trucks and participating restaurants, 8 beer gardens (that’s a lot, even for Philly circa 2017) and there’s 250+ vendors otherwise. There’s enough going on that both the Bros and the Piazza seem like what they always should seem like: An afterthought.
