Things We Do Not Dread: Pop-Up Vietnamese BBQ At Martha

Kensington bar/restaurant/bocce space Martha remains one of the only new things in Kensington that doesn't fill us with some level of despair, and not just because of the peerless cocktail program and the wine list that’s way more ambitious than you’d suspect. (Oh, and they also have beer and hoagies, too.) On their off-nights, they’re also accidentally-on-purpose developing a home for some of the city’s brightest pop-up food options. With BBQ season on the wind, this Tueday, they’ll be flipping the script a little with a Vietnamese-inspired BBQ out in the backyard, courtesy of up-and-comer Mike’s BBQ. Get a look at this menu:


Smoked Pho French Dip Sandwich $10

* Che - a Vietnamese sweet pudding in a small, clear cup consisting of banana tapioca and coconut tapioca and swirled with green Pandan extract and carrot juice/liquor making it a multi-colored multi taste delight.
* Banh Bao Chi - a coconut candy wrapped in a sticky rice dough flavored with Pandan extract and rolled in fine coconut. 
* Thach Ca Rot- a carrot jello/jelly candy (using agar-agar) molded into pyramid-like shapes.
