Dearly beloved, we R gathered here today 2 get through this thing called the passing of the legendary Prince. But I’m here 2 tell U, there’s something else 2 do 2 celebrate the visionary icon: PURPLE RAIN: Prince at the Prince.
With PURPLE RAIN, Prince invites viewers into the sexy, electrifying and semi-autobiographical world of the competitive Minneapolis music scene. Nightly, The Kid (Prince) and his band The Revolution headline the First Avenue nightclub introducing the world to such genre bending hits as “Let’s Go Crazy” and “When Doves Cry”. Despite experiencing rapturous applause and fame, The Kid’s hot temper leads him to emotional confrontations at home and on stage. Sensing a crack in the Revolution, rival bandleader Morris (Morris Day) of the Time drives a wedge between not only The Kid and his bandmates, but with his talented girlfriend Apollonia (Appollonia). It will take a whole lot of synthesizers, fog and innuendos before The Kid can rise above hardship and deliver the opening chords of his masterpiece “Purple Rain”. Join us in celebration of one of the most original, visionary artists, music or otherwise, to grace the earth with a very special screening of Prince at the Prince.
