On Spotify, Suburban Living’s profile page reveals that the Philadelphia band pulls the most listens from Sáo Paulo, Brasil. This is the kind of quirk of fate that can either portend a wonderful fate or just be one of those random things, but either way, it does speak to the unlikely global appeal of dreampop. It’s a musical stock that Philly has a lot of stake in right now, from the doom-dream that is Nothing all the way over to the high-style Japanese Breakfast. Suburban Living, fronted by one Wesley Bunch, leans towards the Japanese Breakfast end of the scale, cutting nearly as perfect a Sofia Coppola vibe on their new Almost Paradise LP as J-Brekkie did on Pyschopomp earlier this year.
