Good Motherf*cking News: Reader’s Delight
This year’s One Book One Philadelphia selection has been announced and it’s a really good one: Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu, it’s a wildly inventive bildungsroman (written as a screenplay) about one guy’s transformation from Generic Asian Man to Kung Fu Guy. Come April, the Free Library will be hosting all kinds of events around the book all over the city, but if you’d like to get a jump on things, read an excerpt here, and grab a copy from our Bookshop below.
Speaking of the Free Library, here is even better news: For the first time since 2020, 10 local branches will now have Saturday hours! And it sounds like more could be on the way.
But if you need some immediate literary gratification, try Philadelphia Contemporary’s Healing Verse Poetry Line, which features a new poem every week. Launched in January 2021 by Philadelphia Poet Laureate and licensed clinical social worker Trapeta B. Mayson, the toll-free and 24/7 dial-a-poem phone line has been ripping into 2023 with good vibes. Dial for some care and healing today! Call 1-855-POEMRX2 (1-855-763-6792)
