PHILEBRITY

The year was 2008: A young scamp named Barack Obama was about to charm the pants off of an America we now yearn deeply for, and the blog you’re reading now was a young hot property taking the piss 24/7. It was a far more innocent time.

Little-seen but very worthy evidence of that time is something we just unearthed in advance of Philebrity’s upcoming 18th (!) birthday next month: Our short-lived (but maybe revivable?) video series, “Representing With Kyle.” Hosted by our dear friend Kyle Andrews (if you do not follow him on Instagram, well, do), this web show consisted of following Kyle around Rittenhouse Square as he asked random people about what they were wearing.

It was divine, and it has aged, we think, like a fine, fine wine.

Kyle had (still has? Demand that we revive this, people!) a wonderful ability to both find grade A personalities to talk with, as well as a fantastic ability to draw them out. Take, for example, this amazing character study in Epsiode 2, who may be nothing so much as the inspiration for both characters from Oh Hello! On Broadway:

Representing, with Kyle, indeed. Demand it once again, good people of these Philadelphia streets!
