City & State's latest acquisition in its burgeoning non-partisan political news empire is The Philadelphia Public Record, Jimmy Tayoun's newspaper that hilariously claims to have "an impact not felt from any other publication since Tom Paine’s Common Sense." So there's that. The paper's new owners also recently launched City & State PA, a Keystone State-centric sister publication to City & State NY. According to a Facebook post by City & State PA contributor Ryan Briggs, the acquisition of the Record is for its production/distribution equipment to be used on the City & State PA, with the paper continuing for the time being. If the first installment of this new pub is anything to go by, Philly has a formidable new addition to its media scene. Welcome aboard. The water's choppy but you'll get used to it.
