This Minute In Your Pop-Up Park/Beer Garden Immediate Future

· This just in: The Oval (pictured), the pop-up headed up by Parks & Rec and the Fairmount Park Conservancy, will be back from July 15 through August 21. Expect a similar mix as last year — food trucks, a beer garden, rounded out by lots of programming. This year, Mural Arts will be doing a new large temporary mural on the ground, and there will also be a bunch of programming specific to the DNC in late July.

· Spruce Street Harbor Park is now about as tricked out as it will be for the summer: SummerFest there is now open with all of the food options, including the Little Fat Ham and a full service Chickie’s & Pete’s Crab Shack; and this Saturday, the Indepence Seaport Museum will be opening its own waterfront beer garden called “Deck” (which is funny if you have any recollection of this). And don’t forget: Also on Saturday, we’ll be throwing our annual Belle & Sebastian Dance Party at SSHP from 7-9pm

· Meanwhile, even poor neglected old Filbert Street will be getting into the pop-up game, thanks to a 2015 ArtPlace America Grant coming to fruition — the grant seeks to take the street adjacent to the Reading Terminal Market and make it a more friendly usable space. To that end, over the weekend, The Franklin Flea made its season debut on Filbert, and is slated to return there on Sat. June 18th. More events are in the works.

· The Penn Museum has announced its Summer Nights Concert Series, kicking off on June 15th with West Philly Orchestra.

· And last but certainly not least, the much-beloved Pennsylvania Horticulture Society (who frankly was kinda the Patient Zero for this whole fever) is readying both of its pop-ups for near-immediate opening. The PHS Pop-Up at 15th & South (with food and drink from the Khyber Pass Pub) is set to open Wednesday Night, and the second PHS Pop-Up at the Viaduct Rail Park at 10th & Hamilton should be open soon thereafter.
