The last time the longstanding visual art 'zine Megawords held a function at Port Richmond's New Wave Cafe, the attendants there cleaned the bar out of any and all beer so thoroughly that bartenders were forced to run down the street to buy six packs from other bars. Which begs the question: When was the last time you were at a party like this? Grooving to New Order and Happy Mondays in a mainly Polish-speaking Polish restaurant (which is very good, by the way), which by night turns into a Polish disko, complete with lights to match, in a far-off section of Port Richmond, well out of the Gentrification Zone, where the spirit of Eastern Europe still floats on the breeze like the smell of haluski and kaluski? When locals and imports alike really, and I mean really and truly, put a hurting on the Żywiec that even the bartender had to respect?
These are foolish questions. There has never been a time when you have done this. YET. But this Friday, if you are available and open to experience, you could get lucky.
