Philly Expat Who's Always Here Anyway Pens "Die Hard: The Authorized Coloring and Activity Book"
Regular readers of Philebrity as well as savvy consumers of the local comedy scene over the last decade will know the name Doogie Horner well as a fine, fine standup comedian. But Horner, who relocated to NYC a year or two ago (only to be in Philly constantly anyway), has been carving out perhaps an even bigger niche as an illustrator and high-concept book guy. On the heels of last year's Some Very Interesting Cats Perhaps You Weren't Aware Of, Horner is now the pen behind The Die Hard Coloring Book. Now, yes, we know, the adult coloring book thing, yes, we know, but consider the satisfaction of coloring in, at any age, the following scenes:
-
Hans Gruber and his posse crash the Christmas party at Nakatomi and take the tower hostage;
-
John McClane’s limo ride with Argyle;
-
The tension-filled crawl through the building vents;
-
John’s morbid message delivery to Hans (written on the corpse of one of Hans’ men);
-
The famous bloody footprints;
-
And of course, John leaping off the Nakatomi tower.
We asked Horner about the book, and he simply told us, "I hope you have plenty of red crayons."
