We are proud to announce that this week, we’ll be launching “NEW RULES” ‚Äî a joint project between The Next Mayor and Philebrity. What is it? Just a good ol’-fashioned get-out-the-vote-effort. As the clock ticks down on the Mayoral Primary on May 15, there are presently only 14 days you have left to register if you want to be able to vote. And trust us, you want to be able to vote. Our thinking is this: Maybe you just moved here. Maybe you moved here 10 years ago, but are still registered at your mom’s house in New Jersey or Valley Forge. And while you may get out and do things like vote against Santorum or for the Prez, you might think that Philadelphia city politics is this weird, archaic thing you will never understand unless you learn Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer language. We’re here to tell you that, you may be right, and it’s not just you that feels that way. We all do, even us lifers. And there is a LOT on the line in this election. Check this space for ways to get involved and New Rules doings around the city.
UPDATE: Registration Locations, And Who’s In For The Shame Of A City

As we mentioned before, Philebrity is teaming up with The Next Mayor in the coming days to help people register/change their registrations to vote in the upcoming mayoral primary. As of today, there are only 11 days left to register. But we’re gonna make it easy for you. Visit us at any of the following locations over the next 10 days and we’ll have form and pen ready for you so we can finally topple Philly’s lame machine once and for all. Or something.
Friday 4/6: First Friday, 2nd street north of Market. 5-7pm
Monday 4/9: Clothes Pin in Center City 12-2pm
Tuesday 4/10: UPenn - location TBD 12-2pm
Wednesday 4/11: 7 - 9pm Trocadero Theatre - Shame of the City Screening
Thursday 4/12: Temple University - location TBD 12-2pm
Friday 4/13: Clothes Pin in Center City 12 -2pm
Saturday 4/14: Popped! Show at 1021 N. Hancock St. 2 -7pm
In other New Rules news, Michael Nutter has confirmed that he’ll be at The Shame Of A City DVD Release/Free Screening next Wednesday, as has Larry West. Still waiting on Chaka Fattah, the Dwight Evans people were “very excited” about it, no callback from Tom Knox yet, and the Bob Brady people shuffled the phone around and acted very nervous indeed, like we walked in on them making out with each other or something. We need straight talk, people. The city commands it. Are you there or are you square?

Call For Volunteers: Help Us Register Voters!
You love Philly, right? You’re into the various artisitic renaissances and renewed, energetic vibe? Then vote whichever way you think will keep things on the up-and-up. And we’re going to help you: Next week, we’ll be all over the city registering voters, transferring registrations and hearing what YOU have to say about this election. (We’ll post a schedule of where and when shortly.) And we need volunteers! If you’d like to help us register voters around the city next week and have some afternoon time to spare, please get at us with an email to tips[at]philebrity[dot]com with “NEW RULES” in the subject header. Persons of all political persuasions are encouraged to apply, but know this: We don’t care who you’re voting for. We just care that you’re voting IN Philly.
